The Algarve in Portugal is easily one of Europe’s top spots for a golf holiday or getaway, thanks to its mix of award-winning championship courses and year-round sunshine.
Our luxury villas are designed with golfers in mind, making them the perfect base for groups of mates, families, or corporate trips looking to mix great rounds of golf with a bit of relaxation in between rounds.
Why the Algarve is a perfect location for a golf holiday
If you’ve ever planned a golf trip, you know how hard it is to tick every single box. You want beautiful golf courses, but you also want fantastic weather, great food, and an easy journey so you aren’t spending half your trip in transit. That’s exactly why golfers keep coming back to the Algarve for their golf holidays.
Here is what makes it a great choice for your next golf getaway:
- Championship courses: Home to iconic tournament venues, pristine courses, and top-tier academies designed by legends of the game.
- Great weather: With more than 300 days of sunshine annually, you can comfortably play year-round. The peak months are Autumn (September to November) and Spring (March to May) when the air is crisp and warm.
- Post-round activities: Our core locations of Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago, and Vale do Lobo sit right in the heart of the action, offering world-class fairways and high-end dining within minutes of each other.
- It’s easy to get around: Located just a short drive from Faro Airport, you can step off the plane and be on the first tee in less than half an hour.
There are over 30 world-class courses here, designed by icons like Sir Henry Cotton and Arnold Palmer. This means whether you’re a scratch golfer or just play for fun on the weekends, you’ll find a course that tests your skills.
Our luxury villas are the perfect place to unwind after a long day on the fairways. Our dedicated concierge team takes care of the annoying bits, like securing preferred tee times and sorting out airport transfers, so you can just focus on your swing.
Where to stay during a golf holiday in the Algarve
Finding the right base depends on what kind of courses you want to play and what you like to do after the 18th hole. We have stunning villas across 5 prime locations, each with its own distinct golf vibe.
Golf in Vilamoura
Vilamoura is a big favourite for golf groups because it has six championship courses sitting right on its doorstep.
Staying here means you can play the famous Victoria Course, where the Portugal Masters is held, or the beautiful, pine-lined Old Course. Once the clubs are put away, the lively Vilamoura Marina is just minutes away for great food and drinks.
Golf in Quinta do Lago
If you’re looking for exclusivity and premium facilities, Quinta do Lago is the place to be. Tucked away in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, Quinta do Lago features three brilliant courses: the South Course, the North Course, and Laranjal.

Golf in Vale do Lobo
Vale do Lobo is famous for blending beach vibes with incredible golf. It’s home to the Royal and Ocean Courses. The Royal features the legendary 16th hole, a par-3 where you have to go right over the red cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean.
Our fairway and beachfront villas here are ideal if you want golf by day and a fun social scene at The Praça at night.

Golf in the Western Algarve
For a more laid-back, authentic feel, head west. Courses like Palmares Golf offer a brilliant mix of links and parkland golf overlooking the Bay of Lagos.
The villas out here offer plenty of space and great value, and you’re close to the historic, lively town of Lagos for evening meals.

The Real Algarve golf holiday tips
- The shoulder season: While summer is great for family holidays, the absolute best weather for golf is during the shoulder seasons (March to May, and September to November). The weather sits beautifully between 18°C and 24°C, perfect for walking 18 holes.
- Twilight rates: If you want to squeeze in a sneaky extra round or just fancy a casual afternoon game, ask our concierge to look into twilight tee times. They offer fantastic value and the sunset views over the courses are spectacular.
- Leave the driving to us: Trying to wedge four golf bags and suitcases into a rental car is never fun. We can easily arrange private luxury minibuses to chauffeur your group in comfort from the villa to the clubhouses.
Perfect golf holidays for non-golfers
You don’t need to play golf to love a trip out here. Our villas are ideally located so that everyone has a great time.
While the golfers are out on the greens, the rest of the group can relax on the Blue Flag beaches of Vale do Lobo, do some designer shopping at Quinta Shopping, charter a luxury yacht from Vilamoura Marina, or explore the historic streets of Lagos.
In the evening, everyone can gather back on the villa terrace for a catered dinner under the stars.
Algarve Golf Holiday FAQs
When should we start planning our Algarve golf trip?
Because the Spring and Autumn months are so popular for golf, tee times and the best villas book out fast. We highly recommend locking in your villa and your rounds at least 6 to 9 months in advance.
Can your concierge team sort out club rentals and buggies?
We sure can. We have close relationships with the top courses and academies across the region, so we can organise high-quality club hire, buggies, preferred tee times, and even private lessons with PGA pros.
Are your villas big enough for a large group of golfers?
Absolutely. We specialise in large-capacity luxury villas. Our properties offer tons of space, multiple en-suite bedrooms, single-bed configurations, and massive lounge areas, perfect for groups.
How close are the villas to the actual courses?
Many of our properties in Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo, and Quinta do Lago sit directly on the fairways or are just a 5-to-10 minute drive from the main clubhouses.
Do we need a handicap to play?
Most championship courses in the Algarve do require a valid handicap certificate (usually 28 for men and 36 for ladies). Let our concierge team know where you want to play, and we'll check the rules for each course.
