Adventure Seeking in The Algarve: 5 Must-Do Activities

If you’re looking for adrenaline and adventure during your holiday on the Algarve, then there is plenty on offer across the region to keep you entertained. With activities on land, sea and air, there certainly is no shortage of adrenaline-filled adventures for all the family to enjoy.

As one of the top beach destinations in the world and with miles of coastline, the beach plays a large role in most adventures, however, if you don’t fancy getting sand inbetween your toes, there are other activities you can enjoy. From cultural to energetic experiences on offer, if you’re adventure seeking in the Algarve, then here are 5 things you must do.

Cross Borders By Zip Line

If you go to East Algarve, where the Guadiana river runs between Portugal and Spain, you can go zip lining on one of the longest lines in Europe. This unique experience allows you to cross over the Spain/Portugal border via a 720-metre long zip line over the River Guadiana which connects the two countries.

You’ll reach speeds of between 70 and 80 kilometres per hour and, because of the location, you’ll actually gain an hour for this activity – you begin in the Spanish village of Sanlucar and end up in Alcoutim, Portugal. The Limite Zero zip line is the only lin in the world which crosses time-zones and borders, so if you’re adventure seeking whilst on the Algarve, this is a must!

Go Horse Riding On The Beach

Horse riding is something which captures the imagination of many people, all over the world. If you’ve never tried it before, then the Algarve is the perfect place as you can be at once with nature and your horse as you ride along the coast. With perfect weather and cloud-free skies, the Algarve is the place to go adventure seeking on horseback and wander across beaches, lagoons or hills.

Not only is hiking a great way to get moving, but you’ll also be treated to some breathtaking views across the Algarve.

If you’ve got a couple of hours spare, there are plenty of routes which take around 2 hours and are perfect for beginner or novice hikers. Remember to go before or after midday when the sun is at its highest and take plenty of water and suncream.
