DAWN PATTERSON JOINS THE REAL ALGARVE

We caught up with our newest recruit, Operations Manager and Property Specialist, Dawn Patterson to find out more about her life on the Algarve.

How long did you live in Portugal?

I’ve lived in Portugal for over 15 years having moved here in 2002.  I spent the first seven years near Lisbon in a charming place called Sintra.  Then in 2009 I moved down to the fabulous Golden Triangle area of The Algarve and stayed there until recently.

What do you love about the Algarve?

There is so much to love about The Algarve, including the very relaxed way of living, the endless beaches, fabulous food, friendly people and of course lots of sunshine making it a great outdoor way of life.

Why do you think it is such a popular holiday destination?

There is something here for everyone whether you want a chilled out holiday or action packed activities, family breaks or fun times with friends.  From babies to grandparents there’s so much for everyone to do. Central Algarve is a very popular location and well known as a safe family environment.  With over 300 days of sunshine it’s very attractive for everyone all year long and you’ll be sure to bump into a few celebrities too in one of the many hot spots!  In 2016 the Algarve was voted Europe’s Leading Beach Destination at the World Travel Awards.

What are you looking forward to about joining The Real Algarve?

I’m excited to be working with the team and bringing positive, new and fresh ideas.  I’m really looking forward to the prospect of being a big part in a company which is expanding. Even though The Real Algarve has been in business for more than 20 years there is so much potential for further expansion as the Algarve is in such high demand.  We don’t just provide guests with accommodation, there is so much more to offer now with tailor made holiday experiences where our guests will go away from their holiday feeling like they have had the best experience from their stay.  From transfers, car hire, day trips, private dining services and local experiences such as wine tasting and visiting historical towns there is so much more potential to offer than just a villa.  The team is very positive and energetic, I can’t wait to get started!

What qualities will you be bringing to The Real Algarve?

Knowledge:  Having been in The Algarve for eight years I have gained a good understanding and knowledge of the area which is key to the success of my role when speaking with clients and sharing best practice within the team.

Customer focus:  By creating a positive guest experience from enquiry to returning home.  Focusing on the clients’ needs is key to ensuring a great customer experience whether it’s from a guest or a property owner.  There’s nothing better than receiving fantastic reviews from guests and owners. This in turn will drive repeat business and referrals.

Collaboration: Working with team members, clients and property owners to increase profit and growth for the company.  Organisation and communication is key when working within a team ensuring we have happy guests and happy property owners.

What is your favourite place on the Algarve?

Wow, only one?  Well let’s go for two, for different moods…

I absolutely love Armona Island which is just off Faro. With no cars and complete tranquillity this is the place I love to go and spend a few nights in one of the beach properties there.  You get the ferry over and just live the beach life and relax.

The Ria Formosa and the Lake in Quinta do Lago is just beautiful and somewhere I spent a lot of my time going for walks and bike rides with my son.  You can walk for miles and even finish off with a lovely glass of wine either by the lake or in one of the many beach bars by the Ria Formosa. It’s a beautiful spot!
