Seven Valleys Hanging Trail
Location: Estrada da Marinha, Lagoa
The Seven Valleys Hanging Trail is arguably one of the most unique and scenic hiking trails in the Algarve. Running from Praia da Marinha in the east to Praia de Vale Centeanes in the west, this meandering trail takes you across the cliffs, providing ample opportunity to appreciate the gorgeous panoramic views along the way.
Stopoffs include the Praia da Marinha beach, where you can marvel at the natural stone arches, crystal clear waters and golden beaches from up on high.
As the day progresses, you’ll notice the magical colour transformation of the rock layers that embellish the cliffs, ranging from dazzling orange to darkened copper and the late-afternoon golden glow.
The trail is estimated to take between 4-6 hours, however, you can choose to explore a segment of the trail should you wish, with access points at Benagil and Carvalho beaches.
Fonte Da Benémola
Location: Loule
Away from the shimmering coastal beauty, explore the rurality of the Algarve with a deep exploration into the heart of the Burrocal. Perfect for couples or groups looking for serenity and placid settings, this 4.4-kilometre circular track is a peaceful stroll that encompasses woodlands, meadows and farmlands. The area is preserved courtesy of a special footpath for visitors to explore the natural wonders. The weirs of the Fonte da Benémola spring are also a highlight of this striking trail. The trail can be physically demanding at points, but taking just a couple of hours to complete, it offers a pleasant, soothing experience for an alternative exploration deep into the Algarve’s countryside.
Monchique
Location: Northern Algarve
A tiny town nestled in the mountainous Northern Algarve region, this small municipality is host to a series of amazing hikes, owing to its rural location. Trilho da Fóia is arguably the highlight, with the starting point of Fóia championed as the highest point of the Algarve.
Marvellous views and dense forests consisting of cork oaks, arbutus trees, and honeydew line the trail along the way, allowing you to appreciate the distinctive vegetation of the Serra de Monchique. Views of the Atlantic rippling in the distance are a constant throughout as you descend down the sidewalk.

Location: Faro
